4 Homes in 5 Months (whew)

We knew we needed to find a new home with the kids.  Last weekend we found a great deal on a house big enough for all of us and Dante so we jumped on it.  Oh the pains of moving.. renting trucks, rushing to get utilities turned on and trying to live between two houses.

On top of all the usual moving fun (dripping sarcasm here ;p) we had some extra surprises; when the water was turned on we walked into the new kitchen to hear it spraying under the sink from a burst fitting.

We moved our big wrap around couch to the new house only to find that it wouldn’t fit thru the door.  We hauled it back and left it at the old house in the front.  “It’s not going to rain anyways…” I said, completely jinxing us.  “We can move it back in tomorrow.”  Of course it rained for the next three days.

Things are smoothing out finally.  I broke my no smoking rule and had a few cigarettes but now that my nerves are unsnarling I am back on the wagon.  The internet is on at the new place, and addresses are being changed over.  I actually sat and had coffee in my kitchen while I read emails.  That’s when I know things are back to normal.

Since last September Mr. Smith and I have moved from four houses in the last five months (and two countries).  We are done with the gypsy life for awhile and looking forward to setting down a few roots now that we have kids and animals.  That’s enough of a lifestyle change by itself.

When we did the walk through on our new house two years ago, the water wasn’t working in one of the sinks. My husband went down to the basement and found the pipe valves. I stood at the sink ready to yell down to him when the water came on.

I yelled all right, when water sprayed me with high force from behind, pouring out of the completely open and uncovered laundry water main…

Good luck in your new home!
