Meanwhile In NaNoLand…

Remember my mission to write a novel in 30 days?  I’ve been neglecting my NaNoWriMo this past week due to all the excitement over getting the HEART Anthology up but now I’m back to it.  I managed to add around 10,000 words today putting me nearly back on track.

How did I manage to write 10,000 words in a casual morning while relaxing and chatting with my husband?  It wasn’t hard since I had already written chunks of the book over the past year.  It just required me to write the connecting bits and copy/paste.

Knowing I had such a large chunk of the book pre-written is the only way I have been able to remain calm while my NaNo clock ticked down my available days.  Now that I’ve used that up I’m to the wire.  I have to write 1,571 words a day to finish on time.

That doesn’t seem like a lot but with my birthday and Thanksgiving approaching I may miss days.  Also, waking up at 3 am for work means by 9 pm I can barely type emails, let alone novels.

To stay calm I keep reminding myself of these facts:

  1. NaNoWriMo novels are meant to be speedy brainstorming sessions of writing.  I just need to spew out the ideas and words.  Perfection is not the goal here.
  2. My projected release date for End of Joon, my NaNo novel and the sequel to End of Mae, is June 30, 2013.  I’ll have loads of time to slash, edit, rewrite and then send to Amy to make it pretty.
  3. NaNoWriMo novels are meant to be speedy brainstorming sessions of writing.  I just need to spew out the ideas and words.  Perfection is not the goal here.

And with that… I better get back to work.  This novel isn’t going to write itself!
