One of the most fun stories I did was the circus. They gave us the behind the scenes tour of everything.

Remember when I was holding my breath to find out if I was going to be hired at the newspaper? I had forgotten that pins and needle, suffocating excitement. It was butterflies in my stomach for a month while I waited. Then I got word, I had the job.

Nearly two years later, I still feel like I have the best job of my life. It’s never boring, always teaching me something and every week I get the chance to make people smile. Today’s Throwback Thursday is from Jan. 31, 2013 – A Love Affair with Newsprint.

Here’s an excerpt:

Every time was the same – I thrilled to see my words sifted from my constantly churning mind to be distilled and made made real on the soft paper.  I loved the way the newsprint smudged on my fingers as if the thoughts captured there were literally rubbing off on the readers.  I adored seeing our little town caught in a weekly time capsule.  Each edition was a snapshot of life for us.
