Women of Horror: #Horror Hooligans

Horror HooligansWhat is a Horror Hooligan? They’re creepy, cheeky and they all look good in bustiers. While it may sound like I’m writing about a gothic version of Victoria’s Secret models, the six pack of ladies published in the first edition of the new Horror Hooligans eZine pack much more punch… and hacksaws, axes and old-fashioned basic cutlery.

When I downloaded my copy I was initially struck visually by how different it looked. Each author is introduced with a full color photo collage. This was a fantastic way to get a much richer feel for the author I was allowing to take residence in my mind for the next 20 minutes.

Another feature I enjoyed was the “10 Things You Didn’t Know About Me” that also preceded each story. I loved this—I felt like I already had a relationship with the author before we went tripping down dark and twisted paths together.

The stories themselves are as individual as the women who wrote them. From apocalyptic zombie shoot outs, terrifying fishing trips and creepy confessions, each story stood apart as an individual. The fantastic photo collage cover promises that “Girls Rock Horror Harder.” After reading the murderous mayhem contained within, I certainly won’t argue with them. I enjoyed the premier Horror Hooligans eZine and look forward to reading next month’s gruesome offerings.

From Amazon: This is a brand new literary eZine in the horror genre containing six short stories, unknown facts and brilliant artwork of six menacing authors.

The Horror Hooligans is not just an eZine, it’s a community. The co-op o mayhem makers all belong to the Forsaken Horror Imprint of Booktrope Publishing. We are made up of authors, editors, proofreaders, book managers, artists, film makers, photographers and mad poets from across the world. We will always strive to create works of frightening legend. Right now, in the wake of the digital world, we are the pioneers of savage art. Anyone who believes in the fractal fringe belongs with us.” Maddie Von Stark
