Book Burning in Bluewater Bay

Libraries BurnedWhen January ended, so did the life of three of the little libraries in Bluewater Bay. Began by Debbie Stretch, the libraries were stocked with donated free books. Anyone was welcome to take or leave a book at the little libraries.

On January 27 or 28th, three of the free libraries were burned along with their books. Each library initially cost $500 to build, install and maintain. There is a $500 reward for information on the vandals who did this. Tipsters can contact Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Department at 850-651-7400.

A GoFundMe has been created to raise money to replace the lost libraries at https://www.gofundme.com/bringthebooksback. Any donations exceeding replacement costs will go to the Niceville Public Library or Bluewater Elementary School Library.
