Because It’s My (author) Birthday

Book CakeIt’s the official day! Six years ago, I published my first book. To celebrate I’m spending the day how any author would want to—working on my computer and ignoring my loved ones! And yes, that was a joke.

I do have to spend a lot of time on the computer, however. Beyond just writing a book, there are all the myriad tasks of promotion, networking, answering emails…

To have a book and expect it to succeed on its own is like having a baby and expecting it to succeed on its own. Books, and babies, require lots of time before and after birth.

I’m still offering free ebooks until June 1. An author birthday present to me, The Braid has held the number one spot in free YA books. I’ve never had a #1 book spot, free or otherwise. Yesterday I had three books in the top 10. End of Mae, as of this writing, is #19 on the Occult list. I’m still trying to figure out how Amazon determines these lists.

Here’s a list of my my ebooks that are free until midnight June 1. Want to give me a Happy Author Birthday gift? Leave a review—always the best present you can give any author.

End of Mae (original version)
