Submission Opportunities

Meat for Tea—Writing submissions should be works of prose no longer than 8,000 words in length. The theme for the nest issue is “Kid.” Themes are not to be approached literally. All writing should be sent as an editable attachment, ideally Apple Pages, Microsoft Word format (.doc, NOT .docx. Please, NO .docx!) or RTF. Must include an artist bio, 300 words maximum. Hot Metal Bridge—Open for submissions of fiction, nonfiction, poetry, and visual art from  September 12th—December 3rd and from January 15th—April 1st. Guidelines for individual genres are on Submittable, our only process for receiving submissions; anything received by email or snail mail will not be considered. More details here.

The Waif Project—Submit to the inaugural issue of The WAiF Project which explores the idea of choice within migration. Submission deadline is Dec. 15. Publication is online in thematic, bi-annual issues, released in March and September respectively. Submissions can be written in either English or Spanish. All forms of creative narrative are accepted — long form, short form, personal essay, graphic narrative (i.e. illustration, comic art), poetic prose, et cetera. Max 2500 words. More details here.

Angela Yuriko Smith's work has been published in several print and online publications, including the “Horror Writers Association's Poetry Showcase” vols. 2-4, “Christmas Lites” vols. 1-6 and the “Where the Stars Rise: Asian Science Fiction and Fantasy” anthology. She has nearly 20 books of speculative fiction and poetry for adults, YAs and children. Her first collection of poetry, “In Favor of Pain,” was nominated for an 2017 Elgin Award.
