I’m sorry I’m late. I got caught up with this author named Holly Black and she took me to Coldtown. I didn’t plan to spend the whole day there, I swear. I just kind of got caught up in her whole adventure and before I knew it I was too far in to back out.
I met Holly at this crazy sundown party that got wild fast—I mean really too wild! I’ve been to some insane parties in my day, but this was way more than I’d ever experienced before. The sundown party made my old mosh pit days seem more like playing in the sandbox.
I should have left as soon as I figured out what was going on. I should have ran as fast and far away as fast as I could… but I didn’t. I stayed, got caught up and found I wasn’t going anywhere Holly didn’t want me to go. She has a way about her that’s irresistible. You don’t refuse to go where Holly Black tells you to go.
No regrets, though. Traveling with Holly was intense. We went everywhere from high brow vampire parties to slums full of runaway hopefuls. I’d never seen a world like this and I shouldn’t admit how much I liked it… but I did. If I could, I’d probably stay in Coldtown forever… and ever…and ever…but that’s not possible, Holly says.
Finally, she let me go and dropped me back off at my house. I was surprised to find myself still wearing my pajamas. I’d started out early in the morning, and by the time I got back it was well after midnight. What the heck, Holly? I’d only meant to read a few pages…
Don’t tell anyone, but I thought you really went to a place called Cold Town wearing your pj’s. Except, in all truth, the pj’s part brought me back to reality! What an engaging book!
