New Normal? First Poetry Reading Since March

Talk about kickstarting the muse! This afternoon I had the pleasure of doing a poetry and chatter session with Amy Zoellers of Hipness and Outrage fame. Check her Instagram out here!

We took turns reading our work and discussing the inspirations behind it. I even got choked up halfway through talking about Carts Full of Air (also posted to PoetryNook here).

That was a good way to start August. I haven’t done a reading since March, I think a day or two before we all shut down. It was the first time to do anything like this on IG. I look forward to more.

I love Amy’s beatnik influences and the way she incorporates the senses into her work. Suffice to say at the end of it I had a crush on a dead guy and a craving for banana cream pie. But why listen to me prattle on about it?

Watch it for yourself here and laugh at all our mishaps, including cameos from a variety pack of pets.
