On the eleventh day of Halloween my true love gave to me… a reading of “Paper Cuts.” Another for Nina D’Arcangela‘s Ladies of Horror monthly photo prompt, this also appears nowhere else but her blog Spreading the Writer’s Word.

Why did I write it? Our responses to the images Nina sends are supposed to be horror. We are ladies of horror after all… not some sort of glee club for failed final girls. The image I was sent back for September 2020’s prompt was just a few old photos and a camera.

How non-threatening, I thought, disappointed. The most dangerous thing about this photo of photos are the potential paper cuts. So I went with that. It also helps that serial killers often keep photo souvenirs of their work.

This is “Paper Cuts,” written by me and performed by Ryan Aussie Smith.
