Lee Andrew Forman

Meet Lee Andrew Forman, an author, editor, and publisher from the Hudson Valley, New York. He’s a third-generation horror fanatic, starting with his grandfather who was a fan of the classic Hollywood Monsters. His work has been published in numerous magazines, anthologies, websites, and podcasts.

He’s a co-owner of Sirens Call Publications and writes, edits, and is an administrator for the horror fiction website PenoftheDamned.com. From Lee Forman: I’m a horror and dark fiction author from the Hudson Valley region of NY, right next to one of the world’s top UFO sighting hotspots. I’ve never been abducted, but one can dream! Why do I write horror fiction? It’s in my blood; a visceral need to explore darkness, fear, and madness. Nightmares, dreams, and reality can all come together with the written word. And, I just love to tell the scariest stories I can imagine.

Some of my favorite books are Cabal by Clive Barker, 1984 by George Orwell, and Childhood’s End by Arthur C. Clarke. One work of literature that heavily inspired my own writing is ‘The Forbidden’ by Clive Barker. I felt a strong discomfort while reading that and I’ve always wanted to achieve the equivalent. I admire authors of many genres, such as Franz Kafka for his dark, foreboding tales, Cormack McCarthy for his successful obliteration of the rules of grammar and punctuation in The Road, and the always expected moments of going a bit too far in the works of Bentley Little.

My latest book, The Bury Box, is inspired by true events. The rumor you heard is correct! The house in that book is real, and I grew up in it. (You can find a photo of the actual house on my Instagram). Of course, much of the story is sensationalized and fictitious. Sorry Mom and Dad! (My real parents aren’t horrible people). But within the book there are a few scenes written exactly how they happened. I’ll leave it up to your imagination which are real and which have been altered. I think if I gave them away it would spoil the fun!

Though I’m a believer in science, my experiences have forced me to keep an open mind about the supernatural. I don’t claim to know what these things are, whether they are glimpses into the world of the dead, forces in nature we don’t yet understand, or things far more sinister. But I do know that some things exist in this world that are absolutely supernatural by definition, and they aren’t always benevolent. Would I try to communicate with beings from the afterlife? Despite my experiences, I think yes, my curiosity would outweigh my fear.

For the future I plan to write many more books, stories, and articles. But for the soon to be, I started a fun monthly newsletter which is about to roll out!
