Congratulations to Bram Stoker Awards Finalists and Winners this past weekend. StokerCon was held from June 15 -18. I had to miss it, but I am already packing for next year when StokerCon will be in San Diego from April 11-14. Special congrats to my fellow HWA Trustee Gabino Iglesias, my friend, co-editor and author Lee Murray and Alma Katsu who won short fiction for “The Wehrwolf.” Read the complete list of winners here ➡️ http://www.sfadb.com/Bram_Stoker_Awards_2023
Congratulations to John R. and Laura Duerrwaechter for guessing the authortunity angel of the week correctly. The answer was Machado de Assis, born on June 21, 1839. He rose from a modest background to become one of the most celebrated writers in Brazil, and 184 years later, my angel of the week.
Laura was the first to guess correctly, but there was a small typo in her answer so why not have two winners? John and Laura both win a year’s subscription to the full month of my Authortunities calendar mail out. If you want to play, visit yesterday’s post here and try to guess next week’s angel. The winner receives a one-year paid subscription to my weekly writer calendar mail-out, a $50 value. Prize is transferrable but can not be exchanged for cash value.
