What’s in this week’s Authortunities? My new office (a.k.a. the Somewhat Secret Lair) is functional, which means I’m back at work. My office has been dubbed “a secret lair” by a workman because we converted the master bedroom walk in closet into workspace. It’s the perfect size for me. I’ve considered adding a nap loft in all that wasted overhead space. Next week I’ll share a quick video tour in the newsletter.

You can check out this week’s here.

I also share how the the Horror Writer Association’s annual Halloween in July fundraiser did. The last event was a poetry open mic and it was so much fun I think I may do it again (once I get caught up from this move).

You can download Download Space and Time #95 from Spring 2002 (a nonfiction piece by the late Jack Ketchum in this issue) along with a collect-them-all chart so you can keep track of which issues I’ve shared so far. Aside from that, there are the usual writer events, open calls, contests, scholarships and the like… here’s the breakdown for #23.

  • 25 newly opened submissions 🟢
  • 30 submission deadlines 🔴
  • 6 events for authors ⭐
  • 13 reprint markets ♻️
  • 1 education 📚
  • 1 award 🏆
  • 2 grants 💲
