Dark Muse: Linda Addison

How to Recognize a DemonWhat can I say about Linda Addison’s book, How To Recognize A Demon Has Become Your Friend? This collection of prose and poetry takes the reader on a roller coaster of experience from the fantasy back alleys of Little Red in the Hood to dystopian zombie romance like in Unrequited. From outer space to corporate space, no setting is out of bounds for Addison’s autopsy.

Interspersed between the prose, sharp, tightly defined poems are set like gems. Sparking with the pain of life, set against the backdrop of reality, Addison’s work shines like an obsidian shard—black, sharp and reflecting a distorted image of ourselves back to us.
