Just watched Food, Inc.

Screen Shot 2016-02-20 at 10.45.18 PMWe just finished watching Food, Inc., an independently produced film that shows how our food industry is playing us for fools.

A lot of this was old news for us personally—the industrialized meat industry is atrocious, the chemicals they pump into our food is deadly and the few nutrients that are left in the average meal are microscopic.

Watching films like this are more horrible than anything Saw could throw at viewers and we saw our fill of bloodshed. The most traumatic? A live cow that lives with a hole cut in it’s side so they can pull stuff out of one of the stomachs on a regular basis. We were assured it didn’t hurt.

The most interesting thing I learned was that Oprah Winfrey was sued by the meat industry for talking about mad cow. She won, but it cost her a few years and a million dollars. Go Oprah!

You can watch Food, Inc. free on Netflix or visit their site at takepart.com/foodinc/film and learn more about it all yourself. You can also find the participant’s guide on Amazon.
