review-button-copyThere is no better compliment to an author than reading their work… and the best way to compliment them is by leaving a review. It doesn’t have to be a long review. Simply finding the book on Amazon, giving it a star rating and the words “Great book!” are better than no review at all.

Authors are usually very small businesses. In a survey of more than 9,000 writers in the 2014 Digital Book World and Writer’s Digest Author Survey, over 77% of self-published writers, 53.9% of traditionally-published authors, and 43.6% of hybrid authors made $1,000 a year or less.

When you take the time to leave a review, it not only compliments the author, but it helps them sell more books so they can keep writing. Amazon promotes books with more reviews, so a few minutes of your time to say “Great book!” makes an author’s month.

Any review is better than no review, but honest reviews are best. Authors are happy with five star reviews, but honest reviews help us become better. Pointing out genuine issues like poor editing, plot holes and confusing fonts help us build better books.

I invite anyone eager to practice their reviewing skills to practice on me. You can find all my books on Amazon by searching “Angela Yuriko Smith,” or by simply clicking here

I promise to love and appreciate every review, even if it just says “Cool.”
