What a month May was…! The short version: 8 panels, 2 readings, 2 books published, 2 stories written/sold, 2 conventions attended, 1 acceptance speech, 1 Horror University class taught, 1 column, 500 new friends and countless new things learned.

One of these was the importance of newsletters. After taking an HWA workshop on the importance of having one I’ve decided to finally do one. I plan to share my marketing columns, self-publishing info and submission opportunities, but the newsletter won’t just be my news.

Because my writing world has so many branches (Space and Time magazine, Yuriko Publishing, my books and classes, husband Ryan Aussie Smith’s books and classes, Kyra Starr’s books and graphics…+) I’m consolidating it all into one. Officially from the publishing company, all the things in this publishing universe are relevant. Sign up for that here.

All the pertinent details:

⭐ Also, on May 7 I had the pleasure of being on with an interview and one of my stories read and produced. Usually HorrorAddicts produces the stories themselves, but since Ryan does that, he was invited to produce this one. He did a beautiful job, as did HorrorAddicts. It’s a fantastic show! You can find all that here on 193, Angela Yuriko Smith.

End of Mae, my first book, is free until Saturday to celebrate my decade of indie publishing. You can find that on Amazon here.

Mark My Words (written with Lee Murray) has been the fastest selling book I’ve ever been involved with. I mentioned it on a panel for independent publishing and was asked to share the link in chat. What a lovely experience to see all the sales, feedback and photos posted of people with their copy. (available in paperback and ebook here)

⭐ The same goes for Kraken Fever (written with Kyra Starr). My first hardback, that book is the first book released from Yuriko Publishing and it’s a mother daughter collaboration in honor of the women in our family, especially the original Yuriko, my grandmother. Available here in ebook and hardback. Paperback on its way.

⭐ Monday, June 21 @ 6:30pm via Zoom (registration required), The Story Center has a virtual book release for Community Voices Vol. II which has a story from both Ryan and I.

⭐ Wednesday, June 9 there will be recording for the Chatting with Sherri show along with DreamForge publisher Scot Noel to talk about Worlds of Light and Darkness, our collaborative anthology from Uproar Books. Show release TBA. You can find Worlds of Light and Darkness here. That antho has gotten some amazing high profile reviews, including from Publisher’s Weekly.

I think that catches me up to this moment. Time to work on the next issue of Space & Time, #141 to be out in very late June or very early July. The fiction selections are below. Poetry selections will be announced soon. We also have two student stories selected and translated from Alessandro Manzetti’s Creative Writing Academy. Another great line up. Congratulations everyone!
