Spilling the Ink #2 today. Amy Zoellers is back with me for more poetry mayhem. Joining us will be Pete Kelly, author of WHAT APPEARS IN THE DARK. Memorable moment of the week: sunset over the jungle. Yes, I wrote a poem for it:

Hallucinated Jungle

Vital mist rises, a sunset exhale
over the violent green that screams
of living. The verdant cling envelops
the rounded range, a mythical beast
sleeping beneath crocheted lace of vine.

Above: celestial, opalescent shimmer
against cobalt, a heavenly dynasty
eclipsing sensibilities as the pearl moon ascends…
palpable, full, enlightening… this beauty
breaks brain, shatters soul, blinds with awe.

My grey matter can’t conceive
the abundance of gold in flight
as a last touch of the sun
gloriously unravels my flesh
untethering, cutting loose, setting free.

Me: humbled, rendered, struck silent.
All the words nothing but ego
poor attempts to hold gods
pinned to paper, to immobilize
angels in scratches of ink.

I walk through the heart of the world
dreams metered by thrumming astral pulse
invoking primeval divinity, steeped in rapture.
