In Favor of Pain │Angela Yuriko Smith

2017 Elgin Award nominee. Many of the poems in this chapbook will be familiar to frequent visitors of the open mic venues popular in the Northwest Florida Panhandle in the US. In this collection Smith has used the mixed medium of mic, audience and stage to explore poetry by performance. The result is a collection of darker poetry that speaks in favor of the inevitable pain that comes from living as it tends to polish off our sharp edges and reveal our better selves.
