Last night I stood in a crowd of 400 plus boys/young men waiting for Skyrim to be released at midnight. It was freezing cold, but the line wrapped around the parking lot and down the street.
There were no raffles or freebies to entice everyone to wait; the knowledge that in a few hours they would take home the long anticipated follow-up to Morrowind and Oblivion was enough. I was only there as moral support but I still enjoyed the shivering camaraderie – how many times in my life will I have a chance to hang out with that many geeks at once?
Now that everyone has it I’m sure shops everywhere are wondering why there’s been a mass sick call in day. For everyone who is playing hooky today, have fun and happy Veteran’s Day. Of course, you may not be thinking about that.
In the words of the guy in line behind us as he chatted on his cell, “Veteran’s what? This is Skyrim Day!” Anyways, Happy Veteran’s (and/or Skyrim) Day to you all! xox
I’ve been watching a guy online play this. I’m determined not to fall, I’ve only just recovered from my WoW addiction 🙂
